Welcome everyone, it's such a joy to be together with you once again, to study God's word. This week, we are going to talk about accommodating change, about welcoming change into our lives for the better. God is a God who is leading us from strength to strength and glory to glory. He does not want us to remain at the same place where we started, and we have to cooperate with Him to keep moving forward. I would like to read for us from Mark chapter two verse 22 it says, ‘and no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine burst the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.’ In talking about wineskins and wine, this is how we interpret this for our lives and our spiritual walk with God. Wineskin is our character. Wineskin is the person that we are, and we know that in the natural, when people use old wineskins, they're not able to expand. For the formation of new wine, a wineskin must be flexible and if it's not flexible it would break and that is why Jesus is using this analogy and saying that for new wine, we need new wineskins because new wineskins will stretch, they will accommodate the expansion that is happening within them. In the same way, the new wine is the new work that God is doing, the new revelation that God is bringing in, the new way in which His Spirit is moving, the new connections that God is bringing into our lives, the new season which is dawning upon us, the new skills and abilities that God is focusing on and asking us to step into, the new vision that God is giving us, the new perspective about life that we must have. When God is doing all these new things, if we are stuck in our old ways, if we resist the change that will make us better, we would end up like the old wineskins. Even though God wants to pour out the new in us, He is unable to because we have become brittle, we are unable to stretch, we are unable to accommodate the new that God is releasing. When we do that, we will not be able to conform ourselves into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ. Second Corinthians chapter 3, verse 18 it says that ‘even as we behold God in a mirror, we are becoming like more and more like Him, we are being transformed into His image’ and for that we have to walk with God, we have to walk with change. So today, if there are things within us that are resisting change, let's pray, ask God for the grace to do away with those things. Why do people resist change? It's uncomfortable for sure, it could be difficult because we are sort of set in our ways of thinking, set in our ways of doing things and sometimes it's hard for us to accept that our way has now become old, and God wants us to fit into something new. This unwillingness to change is what keeps us behind in the schedule of God and let's not be left behind. Let's welcome the change that God is bringing in. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you because you are a God who does something new, fresh, and wonderful in our lives and God today we open our hearts, we welcome the new. Yes Lord, do it in our lives, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
