Greetings and thank you for joining us today. As we are journeying through this Christmas week and reflecting on the person of Jesus Christ, we are focusing on Hebrews chapter 1, verses 1 to 4 and looking at the many things that are revealed here for us about the person of Jesus Christ. Today, I want to bring our attention to this statement in Hebrews chapter 1, verse 3, it tells us about this Jesus and says, ‘that upholding all things by the word of His power.’ Who is this Jesus? He is the one who is upholding all things by the power of His word. Try to picture this, the writer of Hebrews is telling us that this Son of God has stepped into this world in humanity, is actually the one who is holding up this world, that’s holding Him up at that moment. He is the upholder of all things and He is now clothed with humanity and He is walking on the earth but actually He is the one who is regulating this whole universe and He is confining Himself to walk on this planet as an ordinary human person and actually all of this universe is being held in place by the power of His word. How we should worship Him? How we should exalt Him? What a great lesson for us that God, the creator of this universe, the one who upholds this whole universe, would limit Himself to this humanity and walk in time and space. The one who was outside time, would confine Himself to time. The one who is outside space, greater than all of space would confine Himself to time and space and walk on this earth and that is the Jesus we worship, the one who is upholder of all things, who came in frail humanity. So, as we think about Jesus, don’t just limit yourself to what you see in that human body, remember the one who is there inside is far greater, He is the creator and owner of all things, that’s the one we worship and celebrate, the upholder of all things by His word. Let’s pray, Lord Jesus, we worship you, the baby born in a manger, one who walked in Galilee as a man, the one who was crucified on the cross, He is the one, the creator, the owner, the upholder of this whole universe, we worship you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
