Hello and thank you so much for this opportunity once again to come to you today, spend a few moments in the word of God and pray with you. We trust that you are enjoying these short devotionals each day, as we explore this subject on what to do when we receive a word of prophecy or how do we process that? What do we do with that prophetic word? We are touching on different aspects of what we do with that prophetic word. Today, I want to bring our attention to the importance of understanding timing in prophecy. When God speaks to us, He may speak to us about things way in the future. When God speaks to the nation of Israel or the church, He usually speaks in terms of thousands of years/ millennia. When God speaks to a community/ nation, He speaks to them in a hundred of years. When He speaks to an individual, He speaks with respect to the individual’s lifetime. There maybe things in the prophecy that are given to us which have different timing elements to them, it is not that everything is going to happen tomorrow/ next week or within a year. Sometimes God can speak to us things that are decades into the future. Understanding timing is so important that as you listen to the prophecy and you have made a note of it, keep in mind that some of those things may come to pass in a matter of days, but some of those things may take years/ decades even before they come to pass. You can see several examples of these in scripture, when God spoke concerning the nation of Israel, that they would be in captivity for 400 years, that they would be there and then He would bring them out. It says in Acts chapter 7, verse 17, it says, ‘But when the time of the promise drew near which God had sworn to Abraham, the people had grown and multiplied in Egypt.’ There was timing that God had given. God had spoken to Abraham, I’m going to bring these people out of Egypt, I’m going to bring them into the land of promise, He had spoken that to Abraham many decades in advance. But here now, in Acts chapter 7, verse 17, as Stephen is preaching, he is making mention that there is a time for that promise which God had given Abraham to be fulfilled. This is one of the many examples that you can see in scripture. When God is getting ready to fulfill a prophetic word, He sets things in motion. In the Greek, the word Kairos is used. It is a time of fulfillment, it is time when things are ripe and we see in Acts chapter 17, verse 20, ‘at this time, Moses was born.’ When God was getting ready to fulfill a prophetic word, things were happening, the king changed, Moses was born and coming on the scene. God was putting everything in place for that word to be fulfilled. There is a lesson we can take away from that, when we understand timing, we know that in that time, God will orchestrate things and put things in place. He will bring people in place, He will create and orchestrate situations and put them in place, so that the word He has spoken to us will be fulfilled, that is the kairos moment for the prophetic word to be fulfilled in our lives. if we get ahead of it, we put ourselves in trouble just like what Moses did or we cause delays in the prophetic word. So, it is so important to understand timing and to recognize the kairos moment, to journey with God in step and in time to see the prophetic word fulfilled, that is something we must do. Let’s pray, Father, we ask that you will help us discern the kairos moments, the timing for every prophetic word that is spoken, to journey with you in step and in time to see the word you’ve spoken fulfilled. Help us to see the signs of the times as you orchestrate situations, put people, places and things and you get them together, to see the word fulfilled. Help us to recognize it as it happens, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
