Daily Devotional church in Bangalore

Greetings and thank you for joining us today. This week, we are talking about the past, the present, the future. How do we as believers live in the dynamic of all of these three aspects of life pulling on us? There is the past, it is good to remember the wonderful things God has done for us, but we can’t let the past dictate our present entirely. Somethings we just need to forget, put behind and leave it in the past. In the present, we must remember the purpose of God, process of God and in a pursuit to move ahead. Let’s talk about the future. The apostle Paul in our text of Philippians chapter 3, verses 12 to 14, in verse 13, he says, ‘I am reaching forward to those things which are ahead.’ Paul is recognizing, I am in the present but God has got things for me which are out in the future and I am reaching forward for those things. That means my present situation is not my final destination, there are still things that are ahead, there are places I need to go, people I need to meet, things that God wants me to do, things that must be accomplished, there are things which are ahead. The future is not empty but filled with things that God has planned for our life. Like Paul writes in Ephesians chapter 2, verse 10, things that God has ordained that we should walk in them, things which are lying ahead. So, in the present, I am reaching forward for the things which are ahead. So, as a believer, do you have a sense of things which are ahead? Which God has for your life, not something somebody else is going to tell you about, something Gpd has for your life, things which God says are in your future- people He wants you to touch, thing He wants you to accomplish. How do you get to know this? You pray and ask because the bible says God has prepared things beforehand that He wants us to walk into. Paul is saying, I am reaching forward to the things which are ahead. God has got some things for me that I am pressing towards. There is the goal, the heavenly calling, that means God has got those things for you that He wants you to accomplish and that is what we are looking forward to with expectation and anticipation and that is what we call as hope. Sometimes, we use the word as dreams or aspiration but these things are important, God given and they are ahead. Look at those things, pursue them and be filled with dreams for those things. Let’s pray, Lord, we ask that like the apostle Paul, when we are reaching forward to the things ahead, things that you are prepared for us that we should walk in it, that we look with expectation into the future that we will fulfill those things, accomplish those things, touch those lives, achieve those goals, fulfill the call which you have for us, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
