Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Ashish Raichur

Greetings and thank you so much for journeying with us throughout this week. We've been rekindling our passion for personal evangelism, for soul winning, for being witnesses for Jesus, witnessing for the name of the Lord. Today, as we wrap this week up, where we've been really focusing on the commission given to us by the law that means Jesus Christ is counting on us to be His witnesses. He's commissioned us, He saying, I'm giving you this heavenly responsibility and heavenly assignment to go and bear my name and bring the good news to people all over the world, every person, everywhere. As we wrap this up, I want to bring our attention to the words of the apostles in Acts the 4th chapter, verses 18 to 20. At this time, the religious people had apprehended Peter and John and they had threatened them saying, we don't want you to speak in the name of Jesus no! Don't speak this name, don't talk about Him to others, they're threatening them and here's the response. Verse 18 says, ‘so when they called them that is Peter and John and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said to them, whether is right to the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge or you decide. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.’ In other words, when they were threatened saying don't speak, don't talk about this name, he says, look you decide whom we're supposed to obey. Isn't it more right to obey God than obey what man is telling us? Nonetheless, we're just talking about things that we've seen and heard, meaning we're just telling people about what we have experienced, the things that have touched our lives, things that we have seen with our own eyes, things that we've heard with our own ears, things that we've been involved in, what has happened to us, that's what we telling people. We are witnesses; a witness is just saying what you've seen and heard, what you've experienced, what you've encountered, you're talking about it and nobody can deny your experience, nobody can deny what has happened to your life and you have every right to talk about it. So, I want us to understand what the Lord is calling us to do is just tell others what you've seen and heard, tell others what's happened to you and how you’ve encountered Jesus. Just tell them, that's all being a witness for Jesus. He's called us to tell others what He is to us; what He has done for us. Nobody can stop you from sharing what you've experienced. So, do it do it boldly, do it unashamedly with the wisdom of God, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, with the empowering of the Holy Spirit. Of course, we got to be wise. Jesus said, I'm sending you as sheep among wolves. So, be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Be wise about how we go about this but do it, tell others what's happened to you and who Jesus is to you. Let's pray, Father, we ask that we will be stirred to obey this commission to serve Jesus, to bring the message of Jesus to people. Stir us up, make us bold, make us unashamed, make us wise as we do this, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
