The Way (Daily Devotional)

Hello everyone, thank you for joining in. we continue to look at the claims of Jesus, the ‘I am’ claims. Today, we will look at a very popular claim, this is form John chapter 14 and verse 6, ‘Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’ This is a passage where Jesus has already shared with His disciples that He will be gone soon, that He will have to undergo many trials, He will have to die a painful death on the cross, He has made this clear to His disciples. His disciples begin to question Him and ask Him where He would be going and things like that. In response to that, Jesus tells them, if you are talking about the way, let me tell you this, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life.’ So, He is giving them the address to the Father, which is He Himself. He says, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.’ He was clarifying for them that He is going to the Father and the way they could get to the Father was by believing in Him. We know that even during the times of Jesus, there were many who were seeking the path of salvation, many who were seeking the path to God and some of them pursued it intellectually. We have Nicodemus who was a learned Pharisee who came up to Jesus, he had this query about true spirituality and about reaching God and the Kingdom of God. Jesus told him in John chapter 3 and verse 3, that you must be born again, that is the only way for you to experience God. Now there were others as will who through their customs, rituals, good actions wanted to pursue God and find God and be satisfied but here is Jesus giving a very clear answer to any listener and saying, if you are looking for God or the path to God, His claim in John chapter 14 and verse 6 says ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life.’ He also adds ‘no one comes to the Father except through me.’ For us to reach the Father, we take one way and that is the Lord Jesus. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for Jesus, we thank you that He is our sin bearer, we thank you that He is that lamb who has bought our salvation and we pray that many will be able to experience it and taste of that salvation and lives be transformed, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
