Greetings and thank you so much for the opportunity to come to you once again this week and spend these seven days with you, each day a few minutes in the word of God in prayer. We are continuing our journey on rekindling, reviving and rediscovering what we refer to as the call to personal evangelism or soul winning, of being a witness for Jesus. Like we mentioned at the very beginning, some three weeks ago, this is something we need to bring back into the life of the church, into our lives as believers in Jesus Christ. While we talk about a lot of things, we talk about all that God can do for us, God blesses us and God provides for us and so on and so forth. While all of that has its place of importance, we must not forget that one of the reasons why we are here on earth at this time is to be witnesses for Jesus and to evangelize, that is to communicate the good news. The word evangelism is simply communicating good news, evangel, being a bearer of good news and so that's who we are and that's what we called to do. This week, we want to look at it from a believer's perspective, especially when it comes to the practice of evangelism. Now, of course, there's a lot that we need to address in learning how to do it practically and what we will be touching on is just one aspect of it, which is for us to learn to depend on the empowering of the Holy Spirit, as we go about sharing the message of Jesus with people, engaging in personal evangelism. That's what we want to focus on this week- the empowering of the Holy Spirit in our lives, in the practice of personal evangelism, that is when we're sharing Jesus with people. We look at some examples from the scriptures. I want to begin first of all with verses that we've already seen but it's good always to remind ourselves of this and that is that the Holy Spirit is with us. Acts chapter 1, verse 8, Jesus said ‘you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, has come upon you; and you will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and to the uttermost parts of the earth.’ The apostles said in Acts chapter 5, verse 32, ‘we are His witnesses to these things and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those obey Him.’ So, the point we want to emphasize is the Holy Spirit has been given to us, He's not only indwelling us but He's upon us as believers baptized in the Holy Spirit, to empower us to be witnesses for Jesus Christ. So, as we go about bearing witness, talking to people about Jesus, we should be conscious, we should be aware, we should be dependent and we should be inviting the work and the ministry of the Holy Spirit through us, as we reach out to people. Jesus said this in John chapter 16, He said, ‘when the Holy Spirit comes, He will convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment.’ That means the Holy Spirit has a ministry towards people in the world. He's not only serving us as a church and not only ministering to us as believers but He's also doing something in the unsaved, in the people in the world. What's He doing? He's bringing conviction, convicting them of sin, righteousness and judgment. Of sin, that is they need to stand before Jesus to say whether they believed in Him or not. Of righteousness, they don't have any righteousness of their own. Of the judgment, they have to stand before God to give an account of life and what's going to happen hereafter. So, the Holy Spirit is going to bring that into their hearts. So, as we talk about Jesus, we must understand that we are personally empowered by the Holy Spirit and also the Holy Spirit is working in the hearts of people. He is bringing conviction there and so we are completely dependent and we are co- laboring with the Spirit of God. We are witnesses together with the Holy Spirit for Jesus Christ. We are not doing this alone; we are supernaturally empowered. Let's pray, Father, we ask that we will learn to depend on the Spirit of God as we share Jesus with people. Let the Holy Spirit work in us and work through us, as we share Jesus, we thank you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
