Greetings and thank you for this opportunity to come to you today and spend a few minutes in the word of God and in prayer. We are continuing this week to talk about living in total shalom, how do we dwell in a place of perfect peace and how do we enjoy this shalom-shalom that God has made available to us. I want to bring our attention to this fact that while we may face storms, storms will calm. Think about the incident in the gospels, I will just reference Mark chapter 4, verses 36-41, where the Lord Jesus is going across the lake with His disciples, He is the Son of the living God, the prince of peace, He is in covenant with Jehovah Shalom but He in the boat with the disciples is in the middle of the storm. The storm arises, beats upon the ship, water comes in and it really is a very terrible, difficult situation. Of course, the disciples are all disturbed but Jesus doesn’t let the storm disturb His peace. The picture that is painted for us in scripture is Jesus being just so calm. He gets up, He speaks to the winds and waves and says, ‘Peace, be still.’ Bible says, the wind ceased and the waves subsided and became calm. Did the storm come against the price of peace while He was on the earth? Yes, it did but He was in a place of peace, it didn’t disturb His peace and He overcame the storm, He calmed the storm, the storm calmed in His life. So, you and I must learn this that while we will face storms, we can be in this place of perfect peace in God just like how Jesus was. It doesn’t have to perturb/ disturb our peace, we can be in peace. The storm around us doesn’t have to rob us of the peace of God in us. We can be in a place of perfect peace and His peace will enable us to overcome the storm, to calm the storm, to conquer the storm that we are facing in our lives. The apostle Paul said, ‘don’t be anxious about anything but in everything through prayer and supplication, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God which is beyond understanding will guard your heart and mind in Jesus Christ.’ So, storms come, they cause us anxieties but He says, put those things on the Lord and let His peace guard and garrison you. You stay surrounded by His peace, conquer the storm. Remember, storms will come. So, stay in your place of peace in God. Let’s pray, Father, we ask that you will help us dwell in the place of perfect peace, in that place of peace in Jesus, knowing that every storm will calm, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
