Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much once again for giving us this opportunity to minister God’s word to you and spend a few moments in prayer as well. This week, we will be talking about bible study and application and how we as believers need to develop the discipline of studying God’s word effectively and also applying it in our lives. This week, each day, we will look at various topics and how applying God’s word in our lives will bring many blessings and benefits as well. Today, we will talk about seeking wisdom. Proverbs chapter 1, verse 7, ‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.’ The dictionary defines wisdom as the ability to discern or judge what is true, right, lasting and effective. The Greek concept of wisdom centers around knowledge, cleverness and learnedness. In biblical usage, it is a practical word, moral and spiritual insight given by God. It is the ability to discern right from wrong and good from evil. It is the power that enables a person to do and say the right thing at the right time. The fear of the Lord is a reverence for Him that has a great impact in each of our lives. The fear of the Lord is simply respecting God, obeying Him, submitting to His disciplines, worshipping Him and those who fear the Lord have a conscience awareness that their loving Father is watching and evaluating everything that they think, say and do. When we live with this sense of God’s nearness, we will make wise decisions. We find wisdom of God in His written word. Following God’s testimonies has a way of making the wise simple. We become wise when we study God’s word and apply it in our lives. In Psalm chapter 119, verse 98, it says, ‘I have more insight than all my teachers for I meditate on your statutes.’ We grow in wisdom and can safely navigate various aspects of life and the things that we see around in this world when we have the bible as our guide. We also develop wisdom when we learn from our mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes but the difference between the wise and the foolish is that the wise people learn from their mistakes and don’t repeat their sin. Fools rush back in, over and over, puzzled as to why they keep getting the same results. Wisdom involves seeing life from God’s perspective and acting accordingly. You and I must remove the shackles of earth-bound thinking and purpose to see life through the bigger lens. Life is not about us; it is about God. We are only tiny pieces of God’s big plan and a person seeking wisdom will acknowledge that. When our goal is the glory for the Lord, our decisions will have a better chance of being wise. Let’s pray, Father, we want to thank you for your word that brings so much wisdom into each of our lives. We pray that you will empower each one of us, fill us with your wisdom, that we may be able to discern your word and apply it in our lives, bearing fruit for each one of us, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
