Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to spend time in God’s word and a few moments in prayer as well. This week, we will gain a few insights from the book of Revelation. Revelation chapter 21, verse 5, ‘He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”’ The throne of God is the reigning center of God. This is an authoritative announcement coming from the throne of God itself. This is one of the few times in Revelation where we clearly see God speaking directly from His throne. Some imagery of that appears in the beginning of the bible is contrasted or expanded upon in the final chapters of God’s grand story of salvation. The unformed earth in Genesis chapter 1 for example, is contrasted with the stunning architecture of the heavenly city in Revelation chapter 21. The tree of life in the garden of Eden is multiplied in Revelation chapter 22 and descried as constantly bearing fruit and providing healing for the nations. The image of the Spriit hovering and brooding over the waters is contrasted with the one who is now seated on the throne. In Revelation chapter 21, John recounts seeing the new heaven and the new earth. He sees a magnificently, holy city where God dwells among His people. It is here that God promises to wipe away tear from people’s eyes. There will be no more death, mourning, crying or pain. Finally, all creation will be free from the reign of effects of sin. After observing all of this, John sees Jesus seated on the throne declaring, behold, I make all things new. The new heaven and earth is what believers long for along with all creation. Creation will be complete, fully formed and mature and we will enjoy glorious, delightful friendship with our loving creator who invites us to live with Him in perfect unity of love that has always been characterized. Behold I make all things new, is the truth anticipated right from the beginning. When Adam and Eve sinned, God gave glimpses of the promise as He meted out judgement on sin and promised the Messiah. The prophet Isaiah declares that salvation is found in God alone and that He will certainly judge sin and he prophesies of the new heaven and the new earth. The awe-inspiring creation that we live in today will be the foundation of the new creation and we can look forward to rejoicing with all the creatures in the new heaven and earth. Not only is Christ seated in the heavenly realms, but we who trust Him and love Him are also raised up with Christ and are seated with Him even now. This means our lives are firmly grounded and maturing in Christ as we enjoy the intimacy of living in communion with Christ. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for your word and that you rule and reign over the earth and this entire world and we thank you that you call us your sons and daughters. What a privilege it is! We pray that our eyes will be set on you, no matter where we are or what season of life we are going through, to know that you are seated on the throne and you will make all things new. We thank you for these promises, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
