Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Shalom and it is so wonderful to have you join us for our weekly devotion. We have been meditating on the theme of restoration. The last two days, we have spoken about and meditated about the attribute of God is one of a restorer. We looked yesterday at how He restores our health. Today, we are going to be looking at another aspect of restoration of how God restores honor. Reading from Isaiah chapter 61, verse 7, ‘Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore, in their land they shall possess double; Everlasting joy shall be theirs.’ When we look at the whole chapter of Isaiah chapter 61, it paints a picture of a God who loves to restore. If you go through that entire chapter, you will see how He transforms mourners into oaks of righteousness. He releases prisoners from darkness and He bestows crowns of beauty in place of ashes and all of these are pictures of restoration. But this powerful verse from the book of Isaiah, verse 7, is a declaration of hope, restoration and God’s favor upon His people. When we look at this verse again in context, we see that Isaiah is proclaiming the good news of God’s redemption and the coming of the Messiah King. It is a message that is there not only for the Israelites but also for all who have faced shame, disgrace and brokenness. The verse says, God has restored us and He has given us/ replaced shame to honor, to double honor. There maybe times we go through in life, where we have been shamed, we have been disgraced, it could be due to our own mistakes or the mistakes of others or due to circumstances beyond our control but nevertheless, these moments can be extremely painful and debilitating. But God’s promise is very clear. He doesn’t just intend to erase our shame; He replaces it with the double portion of honor. This is the grace of God, He doesn’t just merely restore, but He multiplies honor. The promise in that verse doesn’t stop at the double portion, it extends to an everlasting joy. This is not just a fleeting happiness that comes when our circumstances are ok, but it is a deep-seated joy that is rooted in the eternal promises of God. It is a joy that comes from knowing Him and understanding the depths of His love and favor upon us. Where in your life do you feel that weight of shame or disgrace? Today, when you meditate on this verse, allow the truth to permeate into your heart, that God promises to restore you with double honor and restore your pain into joy. Whatever your circumstances are, look into His promise. You are not defined by your past mistakes or the actions of others or even your circumstances, you are defined by God and the promises that He gives are of double honor in place of shame. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we seek you. We bring you all the areas of our lives that have gone through shame. We take what you have promised for us, a double portion of honor and replace our pain with your everlasting joy. Thank you that we can look forward to a life of joy and honor, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
