Greetings and thank you for joining us today on this daily devotional and thank you for the opportunity to come to you and spend a few moments with you in God's word and prayer. We are talking about overcoming depression and today I want to bring our attention to a spiritual aspect or a spiritual dimension to depression. Now, this is from the Bible and obviously a therapist or a psychologist may not necessarily agree with this but the Bible talks about a spirit of heaviness, a spirit of depression that means there are evil spirits that do all kinds of evil things and one of the things they do cause is depression. So, sometimes when we are dealing with depression, it's not just our own emotions that we are dealing with but there are spirits of depression, a demonic power of depression that attaches itself to our emotion and causes people to feel down, depressed and to be in this state. Now, we're not saying that every feeling of depression is a demon of depression, that's not what we saying. We are saying that in some conditions, in some situations that's the fact, there's a demon, a spirit causing depression, a spirit of heaviness as the Bible says. So, we need to reject that spirit, reject the demon of depression. Now you may agree or may not agree but this is a Biblical thing, there are spirits that cause these kinds of feelings and emotions and so we need to reject it, you deal with the spirit of depression in the mighty name of Jesus. Jesus said, ‘in my name you will expel demons, in my name you'll cast them out’ and you need to reject that spirit of depression in the name of Jesus. So, you do that, you say, in the name of Jesus, I reject any and every spirit depression trying to affect my emotions, trying to affect my feelings, I reject it, I give you no place in my emotions, you will not cause me to be feeling down and depressed and hopeless and in despair. I reject those feelings and I reject that spirit of depression. Do it in Jesus’s name. Let's pray, Father, right now I pray for those who are watching and listening and with the authority of the name of Jesus, with the authority you've given me, I speak into their lives, I speak over their emotions, I command every foul spirit of depression, every spirit of heaviness to exit, leave; I rebuke you, I cast you out, I send you out from their emotion, I remove that depression that feeling of being down and out, those feelings of hopelessness and despair, I take it off of their emotions and I release the joy, the peace, the laughter, the energy of hope that comes from the Holy Spirit in their emotions, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
