Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Ashish Raichur

Greetings and thank you for joining us today as we take a few moments just to look into His word and pray together. We are looking at Mary’s response to the message that was brought to her by the angel of God who told her that the power of God would come upon her and she would give birth to the child Jesus. How did Mary respond to this word? We have to try and put ourselves in her place, how this word would not only have shocked her but have impacted her life so powerfully because so much would have changed once this word was brought to her. How did she respond? We’ve learnt that Mary believed the word, rejoiced at the word in God and we also see something that Mary recognizes God’s purpose. In Luke chapter 1, verses 48 and 49, this is what Mary says, ‘For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name.’ This is amazing that when Mary received this word, she had a sense of divine purpose in all this. She is not saying this word is just to make me happy, I’m going to have a baby. It is beyond that. She says, generations will call me blessed meaning there is a greater purpose in what is happening in my life, there is something that is going to impact not just me but beyond me, my community, my nation and generations yet to come, they are going to call me blessed. What God is doing in me through the word He has spoken is not just for me but for generations that come after me. Could we respond in a similar way to God’s word that when God is speaking His promise to us, we realize that His word given to us whether it is in the written scriptures or by the Holy Spirit, it is not just for our benefit, but it is beyond us, it is for people, communities, nations around us and generations to come after us. If we believe that word and let that word be fulfilled in our lives. For every word that God speaks to you through the scriptures or the Holy Spirit, believe in it, rejoice in it and see His purpose, why He gave you that word, it is beyond you. There are multitudes waiting to be blessed. Let’s pray, Father, we receive your word and we recognize your purpose at work in us through your word. It is more than just our need and our lives being affected, it is generations that will be affected and we thank you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
