Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally, we're so glad that you could be part of today's daily devotion. In today's devotion, we are focusing on the theme ‘seek and pursue’. Today, we are looking specifically at this verse, 1 Corinthians chapter 14 and verse 1 which says, ‘pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.’ Pursue which means to press on. We have that picture of running in order to win a race so which means to go after, to earnestly endeavor in order to acquire something. So, pursue love and desire spiritual gifts but especially that you may prophecy. So, this is for all believers. If you are here today and listening, this is for you to pursue the agape, the unconditional love that comes from God. The Bible says that this God kind of love is kind, is not selfish, does not envy, is not proud, it does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil and does not rejoice in sin but rejoices in the truth, bears all things, hopes all things and endures all things. There's never a time when this kind of love will run out because it comes from God, it's the agape love of God. The Bible instructs us to pursue which means that we go after and find ways of expressing this God kind of love. The question is this, can we pursue this expression of God's love through our lives today? Because that is the exhortation that we have in scripture, to pursue the God kind of love. The second part of it is to desire spiritual gifts, this also means to burn with zeal and earnestly be in pursuit of. So, this is something that we are also instructed to pursue, to be in pursuit of. So today, we have this question to ask ourselves, am I pursuing the agape love of God to be expressed through my life and am I in pursuit of the spiritual gifts which are there mentioned in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 which is word of wisdom, word of knowledge, gifts of healings, faith, working of miracles, tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy, discerning of spirits and so on? So, am I in active pursuit? Am I going after with the intention of acquiring? Am I going after this in faith? Because many things happen in our lives which actually discourage us and extinguishes the fire or brings down the fire or intensity of us going after these things. So today, we are reminded to pursue love and desire spiritual gifts. The outcome of this pursuit is Christ likeness. When we pursue love, the God kind of love what is revealed in our lives and through us is Christ's likeness and also, we will be witnesses with power. Shall we pray, Father, we thank you for this instruction to desire the God kind of love and to pursue the gifts of the Spirit. We pray that we will do so with all our hearts today despite all that is happening, all the responsibilities and all the pleasures, that we will pursue love and desire spiritual gifts, we thank you, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
