Hello and welcome back as we look into God’s word and meditate on it, welcome to Living Supernaturally. Today, we are looking at 2 Timothy chapter 4, verses 1 and 2, Paul writes to Timothy and says, ‘I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.’ Paul is writing to Timothy in his epistles and he lays down some weighty things here. Just look at the choice of words, ‘I charge you before God and Lord Jesus Christ who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom.’ So, he is saying, these are weighty things, its not a trivial thing, it’s a very serious thing, I charge you and command you and submit this before you and God and he says, this is what you need to do, preach the word, herald or proclaim the word, let the content of what you herald/ proclaim be the inspired word of God, the logos that you proclaim. So, you do that, preach the word and you do that as a person who is ready always, in season and out of season, meaning whether there is opportunity or not, you be ready, ready to preach the word. Be ready when there is opportunity or no visible opportunity even. In preaching, in season and out of season this is what you do- you convince/ bring to light and expose with the truth. You convince, provide the evidence from God’s word as you are preaching, expose whatever needs to be exposed with the truth. Rebuke, meaning forbid/ disallow/ admonish from the word. He also says, exhort, bring in encouragement and that word exhort has the picture of calling/ inviting someone to come alongside in order to encourage, in order to bring encouragement, strengthen and comfort. He is saying, exhort but do so with long suffering and that word means patience. Preach the word with patience, convince with patience, rebuke with patience, exhort with patience and bring in the teaching, this is for all of us today. May the Lord accomplish this in us even as we pray. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you that you’ve called each one of us, you’ve appointed us to proclaim/ herald your word. Even as we do that, enable us to be ready whether there is opportunity to not, enable us to face/ start each day with that readiness, remind us Holy Spirit, we thank you for this privilege, we pray that there would be divine opportunities and orchestrations even today, in Jesus’s matchless name we pray, Amen.
