Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Hello friends, welcome, thank you for joining. We are talking about the word of God and how that helps us grow in God and in the knowledge of God. Today, I wanted to talk about the importance of faith when it comes to receiving the word of God. In Hebrews chapter 4 and verse 2, it says, ‘For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.’ We understand that God’s word is a miracle seed, it carries the capacity to produce, to bear fruit and for a harvest. In this verse, notice it talks about a group of people who heard the word, but it didn’t profit them. It is likely as the parable of the sower says, their hearts were not good ground. So, what makes for good ground? Faith is important for our heart to receive what God is saying and that is what the latter part of this verse says. So, when we hear God’s word it is very important for us to have the right heart attitude, it will profit us when we approach the word with faith, instead of just looking at the word as something that will satisfy our intellectual quest. It is okay to have questions and to find answers in God’s word, we are encouraged to do that and God is definitely happy when we make that effort, but what we are saying is that there is a reverence and an honor and an attitude of faith which is required on the part of a believer and without this, when we hear the word of God, it doesn’t really profit or benefit a believer. Paul in writing to Timothy as part of his instructions discourages people from engaging in myths, endless genealogies, arguments that really don’t produce any faith in our hearts (paraphrased). Sometimes, our approach to the word of God could just be that we want to answer a question really well but at every point it is important for us to think whether we are mixing our faith with the word which we hear, the word which comes to us and at the same time, in what we speak, in what we share form the word of God, is it producing faith in people’s hearts or is it producing confusion and doubts? We must ensure that the word is always mixed with faith and of course, when we receive the word of God with that kind of an attitude, we will see the positive results which the word brings for us. Let’s pray together, Father, we thank you for your instruction to us that your word needs to be mixed with faith, that is when we will see the release of its power into our lives. Father, help us to approach your word with that kind of an attitude, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
