Hi everyone, welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you once again for giving us this opportunity to come your way, to minister God’s word and take a few moments in prayer as well. This week, we have been talking about the ten commandments and today we will talk about love your enemies. Mathew chapter 5, verses 43-44, ‘You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.’ This is the hardest commandment to know and follow, love your enemies. This is truly Jesus’ command for you and me it gets to the heart of the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It shows us that the love of Christ undermines our naturally sinful and broken way of life. Has anyone in your life constantly annoyed you or upset you in some way? Maybe there are some of them, someone who you resent or feel hatred towards? Almost everyone has some of these individuals in our life at some point in time. Often, there are maybe one or more persons who caused us anger, hatred, resentment. There is something in the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ worth considering whether we are a Christian or not. It is the belief that you should love your enemies. Why is this message so important in a time like this? Today, the world is filled with hatred, people have a universal problem but, in the end, we must accept one another as children of God. Christ overthrows natural hatred with His supernatural love. On our own, we will be unable to love our enemies and Jesus knew when He gave the sermon on the Mount in the book of Mathew, He touched on a long list of topics ranging from adultery to murder but the most notable teachings were when He taught about love your neighbor. Jesus said that when we love our enemies, we resemble the Father in heaven who is perfect and merciful. The word perfect in the original Greek means complete. It comes from the central word meaning to set out a definite goal. When Jesus said, love your enemies, He is asking us to make it a goal in our life. Here are a few pointers on how you and I can walk in this kind of love. One, show genuine respect. Second, put yourself in their shoes. Three, find a common ground. Four, forgiveness is always an option. Five, pray for them. In the book of Romans, the apostle Paul writes and says in Romans chapter 5, verse 10, ‘while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son.’ This verse is a short summary of the salvation of Christ. We were once enemies with God but Christ reconciled us. A world full of enemies, the Lord Jesus loved us while we were yet sinners. Surely, we can love with this supernatural love. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for your love. We thank you for your Holy Spirit that will enable us to love one another, doesn’t matter what people have caused or hurt us or caused resentment, anger, we pray that we will walk in this God kind of love, bringing forgiveness and to honor one another. We thank you for enabling us to do this, we give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
