Inheritor Of All Things (Daily Devotional)

Greetings and thank you for tuning in. Today is Christmas day and from all of us here at All People’s church, we extend Christmas greetings to you. Greetings that celebrate the Lord Jesus Christ. Today, is a day of celebration, celebrating the person of Jesus, who He is, what He has done for us and what He has brought us into as sons and daughters of God, we celebrate that. This week, we are reflecting on Jesus as revealed to us in Hebrews chapter 1, verses 1 to 4, we are picking little portions of that scripture and just mediating on it. Today, I bring our attention to Hebrews chapter 1, verse 2, it tells us about Jesus that God the Father appointed Him as heir of all things. This Jesus who walked as a man, the Son of God has become the heir of all things and the inheritor of all things. We need to understand that this Jesus is the creator God, He owns it already but now He has become the Son of God, the incarnate Son of God and as the Son of God, He inherits all things, He is given all things as an inheritance. Remember as creator God, He created all things and is the owner of all things. As the incarnate Son of God going through humanity, the bible is saying, God has appointed Him as the heir of all things. Why would this be so important? It is so significant because remember He didn’t need to inherit these things for His own sake or for Himself, He is doing this for you and me because He is the captain of our salvation and He is the one who is going to bring many sons and daughters into glory causing us to come in to glory, to come into this place where you and I become heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. What do we understand? That in the incarnation, God is restoring humanity to its original state, as heir of all things. In order to do that, Jesus Christ comes as the incarnate Son of God and He becomes the appointed one, the heir of all things. What Adam forfeited; Jesus restored as the Son of God. In Him, we receive this place as heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus. So, now you and I can enjoy that place because He came as a Son of God and made it possible for sons to come into this inheritance, to inherit all things as sons and daughters of God, He made the way. We rejoice and celebrate in it and we say, thank you Jesus for coming as a Son of God so we as sons and daughters of God become co-heirs and joint heirs with Jesus. Let’s pray, Lord Jesus, we thank you for what you did for us through the incarnation, that you who was appointed heir of all things brought us into that inheritance as heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus, we thank you for it, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
