Greetings and thank you for the opportunity to be with you once again today and take this time to think about God’s word and pray together. This week, we are talking about personal evangelism and just trying to reignite our passion for souls. I want to bring out attention to Jude chapter 1, verses 22 and 23, he writes on how we have to relate to other people, ‘And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.’ He says, in how you are relating to people, you have compassion towards them but do it with some discernment, you need to make some distinction between people. Some you have compassion, they are your brothers in the Lord, you are being kind to them but you also have to have a distinction between those who don’t know the Lord. He says, others- some other people you are being kind towards and having compassion towards, you have got to save with fear, pulling them out of the fire. Think of these words, save them with fear, pull them out of the fire. He says you hate the garments defiled by flesh. It means you don’t get contaminated by things that have contaminated them- they are living in sin and ungodliness, you don’t let contaminate you, but you go to save them with fear and pull them out of the fire. He says, have compassion but your compassion should lead you to do this, that is something we should embrace. We love people, that’s wonderful but that is not the end goal, but have this distinction/ discernment that there are people you’ve got to save with fear knowing what eternity holds and you’ve got to pull them out of the fire, that is what sharing the gospel is doing. You are rescuing them from an eternity without God and eternal damnation in hell and so you got to do this with fear, it is got to grip our hearts knowing that this is so important. May this godly fear and this passion to pull people out of an eternal separation from God, may it grip our hearts. Let’s pray, Father, we ask that you will help us have that discernment, that we will have compassion for people and know that people we have to save with fear, pulling them out of the fire. Help us, give us that sense of urgency ad seriousness to what we have to do, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
