Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Greetings and we are delighted to be able to come to you today and continue our daily meditation, daily devotion in God’s word and a few moments of prayer. This week, we are focusing on the subject that all of us have to deal with and that is money. I want to bring our attention to this truth that while God is a God who blesses us materially and we can look to Him to bless us materially with riches, wealth, possessions, there is nothing wrong with that, yet there are clear instructions given to us in His word, on how to handle these things. I want to bring our attention to one aspect of these instructions. I will begin with Psalms chapter 62, verse 10, the psalmist says, ‘Do not trust in oppression, nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them.’ In Psalms chapter 30, verse 6, the psalmist says, ‘Now in my prosperity I said, "I shall never be moved."’ The bible tells us in these scriptures and many other places that when riches increase, when God prospers you, when your life has all of these nice things on earth, it is not bad, it is not something to be shunned but as God blesses us, our heart must always remain stayed on guard; our attention must not shift from God to these things. The psalmist says if riches increase, don’t set your heart on those things, but keep your heart on the Lord, in your prosperity, don’t get moved or shaken, thank God He is blessing and prospering you, stay rooted in Him, stay focused on Him in whatever He has called you to do. We must also understand that as Jesus taught us that we should not begin to measure our life by our riches, this is in Luke the 12th chapter, when Jesus spoke about the story of the rich fool, He said in verse 15 ‘beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses."’ In other words, don’t become greedy, protect your heart because your life is not measured by how much you have. While it is God who blesses us materially and gives us things that we could use for our life here on earth, we shouldn’t measure our life by those things. The apostle Paul made it very clear in 1 Timothy chapter 6, he says don’t desire to be rich, in the sense don’t pursue riches because love of money itself is the root of all evil. While God is the source of such blessing in our lives and He gives it to us as a gift, He also calls us to be responsible, to guard our heart, to keep our heart fixed on Him, not to be shaken, not to measure our life by the possessions we have and not to pursue possessions but rather begin to use them properly for the sake of His kingdom, which we will talk about in the other days this week. So, God blesses us, but He calls us to live responsibly. Let’s pray, Lord, we thank you, for all the wonderful blessing you bless us with. We pray that you will increase us materially, financially, with wealth, riches, as these things increase in our lives, help us to live responsibly, use them well and to keep our hearts set on you alone, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
