Daily Devotional church in Bangalore

Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Shalom and welcome to another episode of Living Supernaturally. We trust you are enjoying and learning through the book of Judges. The last two days, we went through and learnt lessons from two of the judges, Othniel and Ahud. Today, we are going to be looking at Deborah. We see that God moves in her life through His Spirit. The story of Deborah is seen in Judges’ chapter 4 and 5 and like many other stories, we do see the Israelites sinned against the Lord and He sells them to a nation. This goes on for twenty years until the Israelites cried out to the Lord for help because they are under the oppression of the Canaanites. Deborah as a judge, is best known for being one of the few woman prophetesses of the bible and the only woman judge in the book of Judges. She is also known to be one of the woman warriors. So, Deborah became a judge in Israel at a time when the nation faced oppression from the Canaanites and God allows this because of their disobedience. We read in her account the many things that the Lord did through her for the people of Israel. We see that the Lord used her to speak justice to the people of Israel, to set her people free and defeat the king of Canaan, the Lord puts her in a place of authority and leadership to lead the army of Israel, the Lord used her to bring the message to Barak that the Lord would deliver the king of Canaan and the Lord used her to prophesy that the honor for the victory would belong to a woman. When we read in Judges chapter 4, verse 9, ‘So she said, “I will surely go with you; nevertheless, there will be no glory for you in the journey you are taking, for the LORD will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.” Then Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh.’ Through this account, we can see that Deborah was operating in the wisdom of God and was led by the Spirit. It is the Spirit of God that does the work regardless of the person or the instrument the Lord chooses to use. Whether it is a man or woman, weak or strong, confident or hesitant, all are strong when they are moved by the Spirit of God and filled with His strength. Deborah was a woman of influence and her spiritual mantle created an atmosphere of courage for both men and women and we see Israel was undisturbed for 40 years. She had strategic counsel and wisdom for the people of Israel. She guided them in matters of governance, justice and warfare. We see how she relied on the Spirit of God for wisdom and discernment to offer that advice and wise decision. This is a great example for each of us to emulate. Like Deborah, we need to be in communion with the Spirit so we can influence others and live out the purposes of God. Deborah, being a woman in her time, relied on the calling of God and she went about it with all her heart, put every confidence in the Lord as she went about doing it. Her reliance was not on cultural beliefs but her focus was on the direction of the Spirit of God. So, let’s keep focusing and keep drawing our strength and wisdom from the Spirit of God. Let’s pray, Heavenly Father, we thank you for the lessons we are learning. As Deborah looked to you and the way you gave her counsel and wisdom to lead a nation, we pray that we will tap into the Spirit’s power in the things we need to do that we will see your wisdom and grace in all that we do, thank you for hearing our prayer, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
