Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity once again to minister God's word and to spend a few moments in prayer. Today, we'll talk about His glorious freedom. Galatians chapter 5 and verse 1, ‘it is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.’ I'd like to also read Romans chapter 8, verse 21, ‘that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and the glory of the children of God.’ In Romans chapter 8, Paul uses the phrase the freedom and glory of the children of God, to refer to both the present reality of God's children and a future in which hope becomes realized and suffering is one distant memory. This glorious freedom is based on our relationship with the Father as His children. We may still be intimidated by the domineering character of the tyrant who once ruled over us. Believers sometimes wrongly assume I have sinned, therefore, sin still has authority over me, I cannot possibly have died to sin. But the apostle Paul contradicts this thinking. Sin has no authority over anyone who is in Christ. You are no longer under its dominion; you and I have received a new identity. You have died out of that old Kingdom and we have been raised through Christ into a new kingdom where Jesus, not sin reigns! From this vantage point, you and I, can look at the enemy and say you once ruled over me but no longer. I am a citizen of the kingdom of God and a child of God. The Lord Jesus reigns over me now. You may not yet be what one day you shall be but thank God you are no longer what we were. It is easy to read this passage and say, Paul, you are not talking about me, I certainly don't think of myself as someone who has died to sin. When we begin to understand that, in Christ, you and I, have been dead to sin and have been delivered from the dominion of sin, we are no longer under bondage, we are no longer a victim or in the subtle works of the enemy. What glorious freedom Jesus Christ bought for us on the cross. In Galatians chapter 5, Paul says, stand fast therefore in the liberty there with Christ has made us free. Freedom now to serve a master, freedom to become the joyous servant of the Lord, freedom to be a blessing. Let's pray, Father, we thank you for this glorious, wonderful freedom that we have in you. Thank you that on the cross you destroyed and disarmed every principality, every power of darkness. Lord, we believe that as your children we no longer live in sin but we have been set free by the blood of Jesus and we thank you for that identity that you have given us, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
