Feet Fitted With Readiness (Daily Devotional)

Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally, thank you once again for this opportunity to minister God's word and spend a few moments in prayer. This week, we’ve been looking at various aspects of the armor of God and today, we will look at feet fitted with the readiness. It may seem strange to consider shoes to be part of our armor. But you can imagine going to battle shoeless or barefoot. We would be most likely in a lot of pain at each step, we may have to pass over all kinds of harsh landscapes, ultimately it would inhibit the ability to fight. The soldiers would wear battle shoes that would have nails or spikes under them that would aid them in battle. The nails and spikes in their shoes would help them keep balance and prevent them from falling. Paul was connecting these shoes to spiritual shoes that you and I as believers need to wear within the armor of God. So, how can the gospel of peace be related to shoes? To start, we must understand that the word gospel means good news referring to the sacrifice Jesus made for us so that we can be saved. As a result, this brings us peace. As Christians, we are called to share the good news of Christ with others. Having our shoes fitted with the gospel of peace allows us to do this successfully. Our shoes equip us to walk through rough areas. In the same way, having hope in Jesus that we will not fall through the trials that we face. While we may face persecutions and challenges, we can rest in knowing that the savior of the world loves us and cares for us. Having our feet fitted with the shoes of the gospel of peace allows us to be ready to share God with others at all times and at all circumstances. As Christians, we must always be prepared, as we never know when we would get an opportunity to share the good news of the gospel with others. Ultimately, the shoes of peace equip us to fight for Christ in the spiritual battles we face. God wants us to be prepared not only to stand our ground but also to walk in opposition to satan’s lies and deceit. The Lord wants us to share the truth of God’s word and what He has done for others. To do this, we must go to places with our feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel. It needs to be noted that once we take the incentive to share the gospel with others, we will be at more risk of spiritual warfare since satan prevents us from sharing the gospel. No body can thwart God’s plan. John chapter 14, verse 27 says, ‘Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.’ With God’s strength, you and I can find peace and be brave to share this gospel of peace. Let’s pray, Father, we want to thank you for your word and for the gospel of peace. You have commissioned us to go and make disciples and even as we look at the different opportunities that we may face in our daily lives, different spheres of influence, I pray that you will enable each one of us to step out in faith, share the gospel and bring people into your kingdom. We thank you for leading and empowering us, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
