Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Shalom and it's so good to be here with you to once again meditate God's word. This week, we are going to be looking at an interesting book and looking at a few lives of some people in the Bible. We're going to be learning a couple of lessons from the book of Judges. When we look at what happened preceded in Judges, we see Joshua, who was the successor of Moses, who led the people of Israel into the promised land. He had led them in battles and was instrumental in dividing the land among the tribes of Israel. Joshua towards the end of his life urges the people to fear the Lord, to love Him and to serve Him in sincerity and in truth. But after the generation along with Joshua passes away, the people of Israel rebelled and started following other gods. The book of Judges records a recuring cycle in which the Israelites repeatedly turn away from God to worship other idols and consequently the Lord allows nations to conquer and oppress them. Now, despite this repeated disobedience and idolatry, we see the faithfulness of God. We see God being faithful to His covenant promises and we see that when the Israelites cry out, God sent judges to deliver them from their enemies. We read in Judges chapter 2, verse 16, ‘the Lord raised up judges who delivered them out of the hand of those who plundered them.’ During the judges lifetime, there was peace and the Israelites remained faithful. However,, after the death of the judge they once again strayed from the Lord. This pattern repeats itself throughout that entire era of the judges. While some of the judges led the entire nation, some governed only a few tribes and at this time, Israel was a very loosely bound group of tribes. You would see that some of the judges were commanders, some of them were prophets. We notice and we see through the book of Judges that this cycle of disobedience, of oppression, of repentance and deliverance being seen portrayed in the book over and over again and this can offer such valuable lessons for us today. We see that the faithfulness of God as a common theme in the entire Bible. God's faithfulness in redemption is something we see throughout the books of the Bible and it culminates in the ultimate redemption through Jesus Christ. Just as God raised judges to deliver the Israelites, He sent Jesus, His Son to deliver humanity, to rescue humanity from sin and from death. Despite our failings, God remains faithful to His promises and He continues to extend His grace and mercy to all who call upon Him. God's love is unfailing and in His faithfulness, He has redeemed us as well. So, what do we learn from the judges? We must be quick to turn to Him in repentance and trust, knowing that He is always ready to rescue and restore us. Just as God was faithful to forgive and redeem the Israelites, He is always ready to forgive and redeem us, when we turn to Him in repentance. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for what we are going to be meditating on from the book of Judges. Thank you that you are a faithful God, a God who continues to restore our lives. We pray that you will teach us to come to you in repentance because we know that you are always there to redeem and restore us, we thank you Lord Jesus, in your name we pray, Amen.
