Daily Devotional church in Bangalore

Hello and thank you for giving us this opportunity to come to you today, and spend a few moments with you from God’s word and in prayer. This week, we’ve been talking about dreams and interpreting dreams and we trust that each episode is enlightening you or adding to your understanding and also creating a sense of excitement for you and me saying, God please speak to us through dreams, that we are opening ourselves up to this avenue by which God can communicate to us. As we continue learning how to interpret dreams, we talked about yesterday in identifying what parts in the dream are figurative and what things are literal. Things that you recognize as people, places, and things, these could be usually literal, things that are part of your world, things that are outside of that, you would usually attribute as figurative, that they represent something, you don’t take them literally but you try to interpret what those figures or symbols, or gestures or actions, things that you saw in the dream actually represent and mean. So, the next step for us is to pray and ask God for the interpretation, you recognize what is literal and figurative, now you pray and ask God about the dream and you are specifically asking God to give you an understanding of the meaning and also the timing of the dream. Two important parts that we need to understand, what is the meaning of this? And what is the timing of this? Is this something that is going to happen in the next day, or the next few days or is it something in months to come, years to come or way out in the future. So, what is the meaning and what is the timing? Daniel writes in Daniel chapter 8, verse 15, he says, ‘Then it happened, when I, Daniel, had seen the vision and was seeking the meaning, that suddenly there stood before me one having the appearance of a man.’ I have just picked up one verse and there is a lot that we can learn form Daniel’ experience as you read the book of Daniel, especially the second half from chapter 7 to 12. In this particular verse, Daniel says after he had seen a vision, he was seeking the meaning. So, you see Daniel was a prophet of God and just because he had a vision or dream, doesn’t mean he automatically understood it. On the contrary, many times he didn’t understand the dreams and vision he had right away because God was using figurative language and he couldn’t necessarily recognize what those figures meant. So, he had to seek for the meaning and this is one of the scriptures where it tells us Daniel was seeking the meaning of the dream. So, you and I, should pray over that dream and say, God, I believe and think that this dream is from you and if this is from you, what are you saying, what is the meaning of this? What is the meaning of the figures that I have seen in my dream? What does it mean, what is the timing of this? When is it all going to come to pass? Usually, if you have a dream repeat two or more times, it means that God is saying this is certain, this is a dream that is established and also you pay very close attention to it, it is very possible the dream is going to start right away. A great example is that of Potiphar, he had the dream, it repeated two times in different ways and when he spoke that dream to Joseph and Joseph said God has spoken to you twice, it is about to happen. So, you need to seek God for the meaning and ask Him what is the meaning and timing. God will begin to give you an understanding. As you pray, that understanding will come to you. We will build on this further tomorrow. Let’s pray together, Father, we thank you for the instructions you have given to us in your word, teaching us how to process what you communicate to us in dreams in the night. I pray that each one of us will learn how to do it and will have a great journey learning from you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
