Greetings and thank you once again for the opportunity to come to you today and spend a few minutes with you in the word of God and in prayer, trusting that the Lord will do a powerful work in us, even as we spend a few moments in the word and pray together. This week, we're talking on personal evangelism and reigniting our passion for souls. I want to bring our attention to what the apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians chapter 9, verse 16, he writes, ‘For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!’ This is a very interesting mindset or an attitude to have when it comes to being a communicator of the gospel or somebody who is sharing the gospel. Paul says two things, he says look, if I’m sharing the gospel, first of all, I realize that I’m not doing God a favor, I have nothing to boast about because it is a necessity thing. Necessity is laid upon me, God has called and commissioned me to do this and I’m obligated to do this. As believers, we must recognize we have a holy obligation to God Himself, to the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. It has become a necessity for us to share the gospel. The second thing Paul says is, woe is me if I don’t preach/ share the gospel. It is an old way of saying, I’m cursed, left in an undesirable place if I don’t share the gospel. It is an undesirable place to be as a believer if you are not sharing the gospel. So, two things I want us to recognize and embrace. There is a holy obligation that we have and it is an undesirable thing for us to not share the gospel. A holy obligation to the Lord in order to share the gospel. It is undesirable and woe is me- it is a cursed place for a believer to be silent and not share the gospel. May we embrace that kind of an attitude/ mindset and say, I must share the gospel and do it at all costs. I have no excuse because I have a holy obligation to the Lord and it is not the right place for a believer to be in, to be silent about Jesus Christ and the gospel. Woe is me if I do not share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Let’s pray, O Lord, we pray that this week you will reignite our passion to be sharers of the gospel, that as believers we will rediscover this very basic, fundamental call of a disciple- to be a bringer and sharer of good news and that we will embrace this holy obligation. We, like the apostle Paul will say, woe is me if I don’t share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Touch us we pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
