Greetings and thank you for joining us once again today as we continue rekindling and rediscovering our passion for personal evangelism, soul winning and being witnesses for Jesus. I want to bring our attention to the words of our Lord Jesus in Mathew chapter 10. In Mathew chapter 10, the Lord Jesus is specifically speaking to His 12 apostles whom He had just appointed and giving them instructions on how to go about bringing the message of the gospel of the kingdom to people in that region. Today, we can read that and take lessons and begin to use it wherever we have been placed, whichever city, town, village or region that the Lord has placed us, we are His witnesses and we can apply that. As He was commissioning His 12 apostles and giving them all these instructions, here are some of the things He said. In Mathew chapter 10, verses 32 and 33, ‘Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.’ In Mathew chapter 10, Jesus is warning/ alerting His disciples to the fact that they will suffer certain amount of persecution, rejection, opposition from people. Not everybody is going to be welcoming to the gospel, receptive to the message of Jesus Christ. While He is telling them about it, He says, look, you confess me before men and if you do that, I’m going to speak your name in heaven before the Father but if you deny me, I can’t bear your name before the Father, I will have to deny your name before the Father. In other words, the call to be a disciple of Jesus is not a call for us to be His followers in a place where we keep things to ourselves, hidden in secret, maybe inside church or somewhere else but He says, I want you to tell it our publicly, what you heard in darkness, speak it in light, what you hear in secret, I wat you to shout it from the housetops, don’t be ashamed because if you tell people about me, I will tell the Father about you but if you deny me, I’ll deny you, that is what is hanging in the balance. His commission is clear- you’ve got to bold and unashamed to bear the name of Jesus and know that every time you speak for Jesus; He is standing up for you and mentioning your name before the Father in heaven. So, don’t be ashamed to speak up for Jesus, don’t be ashamed to share lovingly, gently with wisdom, with people letting them know who He is and what He has done for you. Tell them who Jesus Christ is. He says, if you confess me before men, I’ll confess you before my Father. Let’s pray, Lord, we ask that this truth will grip our hearts, that we will confess Jesus before people, we will tell people about Jesus, who He is to us, what He has done in our lives. May we never be ashamed of bearing His name on our lips and His name upon our lives, in Jesus’ name, Amne.
