Hi everyone and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for this opportunity once again to meditate on God’s word and pray together. Community is ever changing. 1 Corinthians chapter 9, verses 19 to 23, ‘For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.’ This explanation by apostle Paul seems like he was not being authentic or even being manipulative, by changing the way that he acted in order to influence people for the gospel. But the longer we live in community and the more life circumstances we go through, the more we begin to understand what the apostle Paul is talking about. It helps if we look at this passage in light of community and everything that community can be. What we need from community today is different from what we needed ten or twenty years ago. Today, our needs are different. For teens, it could finding their identity. For youth, it could be dealing with peer pressure or work life balance. For married couples, it could be maintaining a work life balance. For senior citizens, it could be loneliness. A year from now or even a month from now, needs may change. They might describe a community differently. A Christian community is serving with the grace of Jesus Christ can be all things to all people. For people who are rejoicing, it can celebrate. For those who are hurting, it can come and cry alongside. It can offer so much because it so deep. It is ever changing to reflect who God is in this ever-changing world around us. Whatever you are in need of today, the community of God’s people is here to be Jesus Christ for you. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for your word, we thank you for teaching us to walk together, to be there for each other, to build each other up and even as we do that, we pray that you will empower us, fill us with your love and your grace. We thank you for this time, we ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
