Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Ashish Raichur

Greetings! and thank you for another opportunity to come your way and spend these few moments with you, in the word of God and in prayer. This week, we've been talking about strange doctrines, we are looking at Hebrews chapter 13 and verse nine, which tells us, ‘Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who've been occupied with them.’ And so, we're trying to look at various aspects of what is good teaching, what is good ministry of the word? And we've been addressing some of that. Today, I just would like to bring our attention to the fact that we must feed ourselves with sermons that are designed to equip, empower, and mature believers toward Christ likeness. So, when we hear a teaching and the preaching of God's word, is that moving us to becoming more like Jesus? That's the question we need to ask. The Bible tells us in Ephesians chapter four, verses 11 to 13, that the Lord has placed in the church some to be apostles and prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, and he says, we will all come to the unity of the faith of the knowledge of the son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.’ These ministers have been given to equip believers to do the work of the ministry, to build up the body of Christ and help us all help bring us all to the full measure of the stature of Christ. So, are the sermons that we are listening to helping us grow into the full measure of the stature of Christ, to becoming more like Jesus? That's an important question to ask and that's what we must be feeding ourselves with, feed yourself with the word of God and the ministry of the Word that helps you become more like Jesus. Let's take a moment to pray, Father, I ask that you will help us to be discerning, as we listen to the ministry of your word, the preaching and the teaching of your word and may we feed ourselves with the preaching, the teaching, the ministry that helps us become more like Jesus, that equips us to do the work of the ministry, that brings us into the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God. Thank you, Father, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
