Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine, O what a foretaste of glory divine, heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of His Spirit, washed in His blood. This is my story; this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long, this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.
Welcome to Living Supernaturally. We're looking at some of the songs that have shaped history, that have shaped the history of the church, that have inspired believers to go on in Christ. This song blessed assurance was written many years ago, in the 1800s again, by Frances Jean Crosby and she was known as Fannie Crosby popularly and she was born in 1820 and she was only six weeks old when she lost her sight due to some medical treatment, that was wrong medical treatment, she lost her eyesight. This is what she says, ‘how many blessings I enjoy that others don't, to weep and sigh because I'm blind, I cannot, and I won't.’ Fannie Crosby went on to write 8000 hymns and gospel songs during her lifetime and this particular song, her friend Phoebe Map, played the tune and asked her what does this tune say? To which Fannie Crosby apparently knelt in prayer and she got up and she said this tune says blessed assurance Jesus is mine. She went on to dictate the verses of the song. So, no matter what we're going through, no matter what our season of life is, we can always look to Jesus, because in Him there is hope, in Him that is joy when we are submitted.
Perfect submission all is at rest, I in my savior am happy and blessed, watching, and waiting, looking above, filled with His goodness, I'm lost in His love.
As you go through this day, just sing this chorus. This is my story, this is my song, I’m praising my Savior all the day long. Let's pray, Father, we thank you for the joy that we have in you, God, no matter what happens around us, for the peace that we have, we thank you for the strength that you impart into our lives. Today we thank you that that is so real, and we choose to praise you and sing praises, we want to say this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
