Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us another opportunity to come together, minister God’s word and spend a few moments in prayer. This week, we will be talking about consecration. Joshua chapter 3, verse 5, ‘Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.’ The word ‘consecration’ simply means to separate oneself from things that are unclean, especially things that can contaminate our relationship with God, to make something or someone holy or dedicate it for a higher purpose. On the threshold of the promised land, God said to His people, consecrate yourselves for tomorrow the Lord will do great things among you. When we consecrate ourselves, God will do things in us, with us, for us and through us, things that will amaze us. We want to do amazing things for God and it is a noble task yet at times, we get it backwards. God wants to do amazing things for us but this is not our job. Our job is consecration and consecration is more than just going to church, following the ten commandments, sharing your faith, repeating the sinners prayer, volunteering in ministry or raising our hands in worship; though all of this is important, all of this isn’t consecration. The utensils used in the temple in the old covenant were considered consecrated unto God. In other words, we are the utensils that God uses for His service, we are dedicated for God’s service. Consecration means dethroning yourselves and enthroning Jesus as the center of our life. It is a simple recognition that every second of our time, every ounce of energy and every penny of our money is a gift from God and it is for God. Consecration is an ever-deepening experience, a love for Jesus, a child like faith, trusting in the Heavenly father and blind obedience to the Holy Spirit. Consecration is what we do to prepare ourselves spiritually for something which God wants to do in and through us. It is like transferring ownership/ property from our name to God’s name, releasing that eventually it belonged to God Himself. So, the word for today for each one of us is consecrate yourselves to God. Let us pray, Father, we thank you for today and for your word and we pray that each one of us would consecrate ourselves, that we would dedicate our lives to the service of God, that we will surrender our will, our mind, our emotions, our plans, our purposes to your hands trusting that you will lead us and guide us. We thank you; we give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
