Greetings and we are delighted to be able to come to you this week, to spend a few moments in God’s word and prayer. This week, we are going to talk about God in the workplace and just remind ourselves of few of the things that the scriptures speak to us about how God is involved with us in our workplaces. Those of us who maybe working in situations/ scenarios, some maybe in tech companies, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, all kinds of spheres. Whatever you are doing, even if you are a homemaker, that is your workplace, pay attention to the word of God concerning God in the workplace and how we can experience God in the workplace. Today, I want to being our attention to the fact that for us as believers our workplaces have been redeemed. When we go back into the garden of Eden, in Genesis chapter 2, verse 15 says, ‘Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.’ When God put Adam and Eve in the garden, He gave them work to do, He didn’t say, sit there and worship me 24/7. He told them to tend the garden, in other words, get to work, work the ground, there is gardening to do and taking care of things and obviously that implied that it would be fruitful so they could enjoy the fruits of all the things that God had created. But what happened in the fall in Genesis chapter 3, verses 17 to 19, after the fall, God declared to Adam, ‘Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face, you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.”’ So, the ground became cursed, the ground represents Adam’s workplace, that was where he had to work, but now, it was cursed and it was going to become very hard for him to enjoy and see fruit of his labor. But we have good news and that the cross of Jesus. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He paid for everything, He redeemed us from everything that came in by the fall and that included the curse on the ground. Therefore, you and I, because of the cross of Jesus can enforce the redeeming power of the blood of Jesus upon our workplace. Colossians chapter 1, verses 19 and 20 tells us, that God reconciles all things to Himself, He redeems and reconciles all things to Himself through the cross. Therefore, when you go to work, your workplace is not cursed, it is redeemed and blessed because of the cross of Jesus, you have to enforce that. When you get ready for work in the morning, say, my workplace is blessed through the cross of Jesus. Whatever I put my hands to is blessed, I’m not going to toil, labor and sweat it out for something small, no, my workplace is blessed, I’m going to enjoy it, it is redeemed by the blood of Jesus. Declare this over your workplace, that is your right/ privilege a believer. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for the cross of Jesus which redeems our places of work. We consecrate, declare redemption over out places of work, that out workplaces are blessed, covered and redeemed by the blood, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
