Greetings and thank you for joining us today and it's our privilege to come to you and spend some time with you in God's word and in prayer. As we're talking about transitions today, I just want to bring our attention to transitions that are caused as we step into the new thing that God is doing. God is at work in the church and He is taking the church to becoming a glorious church. That means there are changes that He's causing and is bringing about in the church and moving the church to becoming a glorious church, a church without spot or wrinkle. Right from the very beginning, there are waves or works of the Holy Spirit that are being released and so we want to talk about transitions that are caused because of the new thing, the new wave of the work of God being released in the church. If you want to consider this, look at what happened from the time of John the Baptist when he introduced Jesus. John the Baptist was a forerunner to Jesus. He announced the kingdom of God and then when Jesus came, he said this is a lamb of God. And the disciples of John the Baptist, they left John and they followed Jesus, that had to happen, a transition because Jesus was now going to continue from where John had stopped or till what John had done. When Jesus ascended up to heaven, He told His disciples things are changing, now it's going to be different, I'm not going to be with you physically but I'm sending the Holy Spirit and He's going to empower you to carry out the great commission. So, another transition. God is doing a new thing and the same thing happened in the early church as they went from preaching the gospel just to the Jews to preaching the gospel to the Gentiles and taking the gospel to the to everyone, everywhere. So, God has been working in the church and causing about transition and He is doing the same thing today. There are new waves of the work of God being released in the body of Christ. The goal is to bring the church to a place of maturity, to bring the church to a place of becoming more and more like Jesus, a glorious church without spot or wrinkle. And this happens as the unveiling of new truth is given to the church, the church begins to understand. This happens as there is reformation, God shakes what needs to be shaken so that things that are not supposed to be there are dealt with. Or as Peter says, judgment begins in the house of God. God begins some house cleaning work and things that need to be taken out, God begins to take it out because He's moving the church to a place of becoming a glorious church. The question is how do we adapt? Will we adapt? Will we welcome the new things that God is doing? The changes, the purifying, the refining, the taking to a greater glory, the invitation to greater levels of maturity, will we adapt to that? Will we accommodate the new things that God is doing rather than resisting the new work of the Spirit of God? Let's be open, let's invite the new work of the Spirit because God is at work in the church. Let's pray, Father, we ask that we as believers, as a church, as a people, we welcome the new things that you do, the new work that you release in the body, in the church, as you move us to becoming a glorious church, as you move us to becoming fully and more like Jesus Christ. Help us to accommodate and welcome the changes you bring, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
