Greetings and thank you for joining us today. It's always an honor to come to you and spend a few moments in the word and in prayer. We're talking this week about transitions. Even as we wait on the transition that's up ahead of us, we go from one year into a brand-new year. Transitions come upon each of us at different stages in life, different seasons in life and we are just thinking about different kinds of transitions that come upon us. Today, I want to talk about a new perspective. There are certain changes that come in our lives where we need to look at things from a new perspective. We need to change how we view things. Biblically, we can see some examples especially when the Lord Jesus began His ministry. There were several times Jesus challenged His audience. He said, "You have heard it said, it was like this,” quoting specially or referencing specially the law of Moses. But Jesus said, "But I say to you." So, He was actually inviting them to change their way of thinking. For example, in Matthew chapter 5, verses 43 and 44, He said, "You've been taught you love your neighbor, hate your enemy, but I'm saying to you, love your enemies." So, He's countering, He's changing the way of thinking. This is what you've been taught, you love those who love you, hate those who hate you, but I'm telling you, love your enemies and there's so many examples of this where Jesus said, "But I say to you, a change in perspective." This happened in the early church. Initially, when the church was born, they only preached the gospel to the Jews. The apostles thought in their minds that the gospel was only to be proclaimed to the Jews and suddenly God visits Peter and He changes his perspective and says, "Peter, what I've made clean, you don't call unclean." And He sends him off to go into the house of a Gentile and share the gospel with them and shows them that the gospel is also for the Gentiles. So, the church had to change their perspective on how they viewed things. And like this in our lives, as we go through seasons in life, God calls upon us to change our perspective. Maybe the way you looked at a certain group of people, you looked at them with certain mindsets and with certain preconceptions and now the Holy Spirit and God through His word might be changing your perspective and inviting us to look at them differently, to look at them the way He would look at them and so we experience a transition in perspective, a change in how we are looking at things. And what must we do? Embrace the new thing that God is bringing into us and be willing to change how we are looking at things. Let go of the past, embrace the new and let there be a change in our perspective. Sometimes, God shows us things from scripture that we have not seen before, maybe we've been taught differently and now some truth in scripture is being unveiled to us. What must we do? Let go of what you've been taught, relearn, unlearn, relearn or learn this new thing. Embrace this new teaching, this new insight from the word of God, that's transition and that will help us move from glory to glory. Let's pray, Father, we ask that you'll help us embrace new insights, new perspectives, new understanding, new revelation of truths that you bring into our life. Help us to let go of the past and embrace the new so that we can transition from glory to glory in our walk with you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
