Hello and welcome to Living supernaturally. We are so glad that you could be here. We are going to take a good look at God’s word and see how His word acts like an antidote in our lives. That’s the best thing about God’s word- it convicts us, refines us, purifies us and we also see that it’s like an antidote- the medicine that counteracts the poison and counteracts something that is unhealthy and unpleasant. So, Gods word which is sharper than any two-edged sword is like an antidote that counteracts the very thing that tries to destroy and be toxic in our lives. Here is God’s antidote for spiritual stagnation. If we have reached a place and say, ‘My life is stagnant, I seem to be not growing and have reached a place and I’m in a place where I’m not going beyond that and hit a ceiling.’ God’s word gives us the very antidote for that condition/ situation in our lives. So, we are going to look at 1 Timothy chapter 4 and verse 12 to 15. Verse 12 says, ‘Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.’ Now as we go through each of these verses, the last verse, which is verse 15, it says, ‘that your progress may be evident to all.’ So, it prescribes certain instructions, and Paul says that your progress maybe evident to all, meaning that there will be spiritual progress, and this will be evident/ clear and put on display for everyone to see.

So, the first thing is in verse 12 which says be an example to all believers- in conduct, motive, speech and in faith, in love, purity, be an example. Let your light so shine before them, be an example to all believers, they way you conduct your life, in everything- in our words, in our conversations, in our speech, be an example. The second thing, he says is in verse 13, ‘Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.’ So, the reading of God’s word, the study of God’s word is very important. So, he is saying given attention and be mindful of this till I come. Focus and study God’s word. Thirdly, in verse 14 we see, ‘Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.’ Paul is saying not to neglect, stir it up, walk in it, use the spiritual gifts that were given to you. So, we have the gifts of the Spirit which is for every believer. He is saying stir it up and use the gifts, do no neglect the gift that is given to you. Open your life up to the power and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. In verse 15, the last instruction that he gives is this that, ‘Meditate on these things, give yourself entirely to them.’ Think deeply about these things, let your mind be occupied with this truth that he has placed before us. He is saying to give yourself whole heartedly to them that your progress maybe evident to all. So, I just want to encourage us to carry on and apply these instructions in our life and you will breakthrough that ceiling of stagnancy in our lives. Lets pray, Father we want to thank you that there is always hope and good news in the word and I pray especially for those of us who are feeling stuck/ stagnant spiritually and otherwise in their lives, and I pray that even as we follow through with these instructions that our lives be an example and we give attention to the reading and study of God’s word, even as we mediate on these things and even as we expose ourselves and give ourselves to the gifts of the Spirit, not neglect the gifts of the spirit and as we give ourselves wholeheartedly; we thank you that there will be progress and this progress will be evident to all. So, God, we commit ourselves into your mighty hands and may we experience the truth and the victory of this word, we thank you, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
