Greetings and thank you so much for joining us today on our daily devotional. This week, we are going to take time to look at scriptures that assure us of divine protection. Sometimes, in life, people are crippled by fear especially fear of harm, of danger, of accidents happening, bad things happening, mishaps, unexpected trouble and so on and so forth. But I believe that if you and I really grounded in the word of God and in the promises of God, we can live completely free from such kinds of fears, that we can always be in a place of confident assurance that God will, at all times, every day, at all paces and situations, God will protect us from harm and danger. This we see in God’s word and we need to build that kind of assurance in our hearts and have that kind of faith and confidence in God. In any situation, no matter what news comes or what is going around us, our response is always according to the word of God in such matters. Let’s take sometime this week, to build into our hearts promises for divine protection. We begin today by looking at Psalm chapter 3, verses 3 to 6, it says, ‘But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill. I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.’ Of course, we know in biblical times, there were physical enemies that came against David and he definitely had to believe God for protection and we see several of his psalms express that. Here he says, you Lord are a shield for me and because you are a shield for me, I will not be afraid if ten thousands of people who set themselves against me. Imagine, this is the kind of trust that David had in God. You are my shield and he took it literally and said you are my protector. I’m not going to be afraid even if ten thousand people are arrayed against me. We need to trust God similarly that the Lord is my shield, my glory and the lifter up of my head and I will not be afraid of whatever news and other things are around me because you are a shield for me. My God is my shield and protector, that should be our declaration.
Let us pray, Father, we thank you that you are our shield, protector and defense, you keep us safe and therefore, we will not be afraid of any calamity/ harm/ danger because thou O Lord are a shield for us, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
