Greetings and thank you for the opportunity to come to you today, spend a few minutes in the word and in prayer. This week, we have been exploring the subject of perfect peace/ total shalom, shalom- shalom. How can we live in a place of total peace? We go back to a scripture that we referred to earlier in Isaiah chapter 26, verse 3, the prophet says that ‘God, you will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.’ Let us zero in on that latter part of the verse. The first part of the verse is a promise, God will keep us in a place of perfect peace, total shalom, shalom-shalom; God will keep us there but we have to do something. We have to keep our mind on Him and we put our trust/ faith/ confidence/ reliance/ dependance on Him. He says, you do this, put your mind on Him, that means in every situation, I am not denying the situation, I maybe in the middle of a storm or something very difficult or some real pressure, intense situation, problems, I’m not denying that but in the middle of that, I just put my mind on the Lord. Who is my God, what has He said, what has He promised, what can my God do? My mind is fixed, it is steadied, it is focused on the Lord. I’m not denying the problem, I understand there are things around us that are difficult, challenging, disturbing etc. but in the middle of all of that, I put my mind on the Lord. You will keep him in perfect peace, his mind that is stayed on You. This is not easy for us because by default our mind is going to work on the problem, sometimes keeps working overtime, trying to solve the problem, what to do about it, how do I handle it? All the ifs and buts about the other things that would happen; our mind tends to work overtime on the problem, it is just normal, but the bible is saying we got to deliberately stay our mind on the Lord. One of the things that really helps me is to talk to myself about who God is. I say thank you that you are Jehovah Rapha, thank you that you are Jehovah Shalom, this is who you said you are, this is what your word says, I speak it aloud because I need to hear who God is and it helps put my mind on the Lord not on the problem. So, I spend sometime intentionally, saying loudly, saying God you are bigger than my problem, this is what the word of God and God says about this situation and doing that helps me stay my mind on God in the middle of problems, that is the key. God will keep us in perfect shalom when we stay our mind on the Lord. Try to do that, put your mind on the Lord in the middle of your problem. Let’s pray, Father, we ask that you help us to stay our mind on you, to put our trust in you as we journey through various things in life so that we can live in this place of total shalom, shalom-shalom, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
