Hello everyone, we're talking about pursuing God and pursuing the things of God. Today, we'll
talk about pursuing Christlikeness. In our Christian walk, our goal is to become more and more
like Jesus. As we journey with the Lord, may Christ be formed in us. Let's read a scripture, this is
from Romans chapter 8 and verse 29, it says, ‘for whom He foreknew, He also predestined to
be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.’
So, God's intention is for you and me to become like Jesus and to represent Jesus. We know
that the scripture tells us that as He was, so we are in this world. We are called to make Him
known just the way He is, in His purity, in His holiness, in His compassion, in His love, and in His
power. As people of God, this must be a desire in our hearts to emulate Jesus, to imitate Jesus
and to become more and more like Jesus. Let's read another scripture, this is from Matthew
chapter 10 and verse 25, the initial portion of that scripture says, ‘it is enough for a disciple that
he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master.’ So, for one to say that they are following
someone, they must become like the person that they are following. The scripture here is
talking about disciple and teacher, disciple and master. So, a disciple is someone who is
following after this leader. The scripture also says it is enough for a disciple that he must be like
his teacher and so that means that you and I must have a life that is following after the
footsteps of Jesus. How can we be like our teacher and our master? Our teacher and master is
the Lord Jesus. When we consider the life of Jesus, we see a life which is submitted to the
Father, we see a life which is obedient to the Father, we see a life which is filled with prayer, we
see a life that is ready to take on anything for the glory of God. For us to be like Jesus it means
that we must walk in step with Him just the way He did. And so, today I want to encourage each
one of us to take time to read about the life of Jesus, to study the life of Jesus and see how He
lived His life, how He was obedient to the Father and also how He demonstrated the power of
God in His life. As we do that, I'm sure the Holy Spirit will give us revelation and strengthen us
to become better representatives of our Lord Jesus. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, it's
our desire to become more and more like You. Help us in every area of our lives to imitate You.
Father God, even if there are weaknesses, we pray that by the power of your Word and by the
power of your Holy Spirit that we will conquer and overcome and be a witness that magnifies
your name, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
