Hi everyone, it's such a pleasure to connect with you today. Let's talk about leadership. When we think of leadership, we usually think of someone who's leading an organization or a set of people or some leaders in society. The great thing about leaders is that they direct us into greatness and increase. What does the Bible have to say about leadership and leadership in God's style or leading God's way? Let's look at a couple of insights. Today, I want to talk about knowing one's purpose and knowing what the vision for the people is and it's so very important for someone who's leading to have knowledge regarding the purpose for themselves and the vision for people. Let's read from John chapter 12, verse 27, these are the words of Jesus and He says, ‘now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour? But for this purpose I came to this hour.’ It's interesting to note that the Lord Jesus was aware of God's purpose for Him, the very reason Jesus came to the earth, leaving behind His Heavenly glory is so that He can become our redemption, is so that He could pay the price for the sin of mankind. It's a very difficult mandate that the Father gave the Lord Jesus and the Lord Jesus did His ministry but He knew all along that one of the most important things that He would need to do sometime, is to die on the cross and so that's what Jesus is talking about over here. He says that He's aware that He came for this purpose, the time was drawing close for Him to go on the cross. So, we recognize that the Lord Jesus knew the very purpose for which He had come to the earth and that helped Him obey God even through very difficult times, we can recall the experience that He had in Gethsemane. Knowing one's vision is important but similarly knowing the vision for the people is also important. There's a passage in Proverbs chapter 29, verse 18, it says, ‘where there is no revelation or vision, the people cast off restraint; but happy is he who keeps the law.’ That word revelation there is vision in other translations. By this we know that when there is a focus, it really helps people to move in a certain direction and for a leader, it's important to set the vision for the people, that he or she may be leading. So, friends let's have that knowledge of God's purpose for our lives and set a vision for the people. A wonderful reminder is Nehemiah as well, who did this and the people knew that they would have to build the broken walls of Jerusalem. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, thank you that you have called each one of us with a purpose. Lord, we pray that we will come into knowing that purpose that you have for us and God help us to receive your vision for the people. Even as different ones of us lead our groups or set of people around us that we will lead them into the dream that you have for all of us. Thank you once again Father God for your presence in our lives, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
