by Ps Paul Emmanuel
Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to minister God’s word and spend a few moments in prayer. This week, we have been looking at the epistle of Colossians and learning thoughts from this wonderful epistle. We will wrap up this week by talking about giving our best in all we do. Colossians chapter 3, verse 23, ‘Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,’ This means to work out, engage in an activity involving considerable expenditure of effort. All Christian endeavor ought to be characterized by enthusiasm, confidence and diligence. Paul is writing to the church in Colosse encouraging them to live a life that reflects their faith in Christ. The verses address the importance of how we approach our work, whether it is our job at home, in the workplace or any other area of our life. ‘Whatever’ includes any and all contexts. Christians are of all kinds are to work heartily. This implies the idea of enthusiasm and passion. Demonstrating a good work attitude makes a tremendous difference in one’s personal life and the influence on others. Paul reminds us that regardless of our station in life, God is the one ultimately judging all we do. So, all of our service is really for Him. We do not work for men or simply earthly goals but to glorify our heavenly Father in heaven. Paul will conclude in this slide with a thought in Colossians chapter 4, verse 1, where he reminds those who rule over slaves that they too have a master in heaven. For this reason, those who control bondservants should remember that God’s judgment is impartial. Evil will be punished no matter who does it. In our society, we do not have slaves but these principles apply to the kind of honest employment. A Christian worker ought to be the best worker in the job. He ought to obey orders and not argue. He ought to serve Christ and not the boss only and he ought to work whether anybody is watching or not. If he follows these principles, he will receive his reward from Christ. We come to understand that giving our best is about more than just meeting expectations, it is about exceeding them with whole hearted effort and dedication. Colossians chapter 3, verse 23 echoes this sentiment, urging us to work for the Lord and not only for human approval. It is a mindset shift that transforms mundane tasks into meaningful acts of worship. Jesus, the ultimate example giving one’s best, served with compassion, heal people who were sick and taught with authority. He exemplified wholehearted dedication and service and we as His children are to follow His footsteps.
Let us pray, Father, we want to thank you for teaching us throughout this week principles from your word. Even as we have looked at principles from the book of Colossians, I pray that you will continue to teach us, lead us, guide us, and empower us to walk as your children. We thank you for this entire week. We commit each one of us into your hands, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
