Series: How To Win Souls and Make Disciples - Soul Winning and Personal Evangelism

Review:
Strategy #1: Invite and Pray
Strategy #2: Connect and Impact
Strategy #3: Understand and Reason

NOTE: as we discuss these strategies lets keep in mind a few things:
1, all of us have been commissioned to win souls and make disciples, and all of us can do this. Start praying and asking the Lord to use you to win people to Him.

2, please keep in mind that although we are discussing each strategy independently, one each Sunday, these are not "mutually exclusive", rather these are strategies that lend themselves to each other and we do all of them : we connect and impact, we understand and reason , we invite and pray - all for the same individual we are engaging and sharing Jesus with.

Today:
Strategy #4: Witness and Demonstrate

Luke 24:30-53

After His resurrection the Lord Jesus showed Himself alive to His disciples. He then commissioned them to be His witnesses. He also promised them power from above to be His witnesses, indicating that we are to be witnesses with power.

Luke 24:48-49
48 And you are witnesses of these things.
49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."

We see this reiterated in
Acts 1:8
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Acts 4:33
And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.

Acts 5:32
And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him."

The Lord Jesus has commissioned us to be His witnesses through the power of the Holy Spirit. We must Witness and Demonstrate

Witness through how you live (life testimony) and what you say (share the Gospel).
Demonstrate through power (works of power) and love (works of compassion).

Lets break this down further:

Witness through how you live (your life testimony)
Our life has to reflect who Jesus is.
Let people see who Jesus is through the life we live.

Philippians 2:14-15
14 Do all things without complaining and disputing,
15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

Witness through what you say (the Gospel)

1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

Know the Gospel so that you can share it simply and clearly.
Don't be ashamed about the Gospel it is the power of God (Romans 1:16)

Demonstrate the power of God
Expect God to use you in works of power.
Use your authority.
God will work through all believers.

Mark 16:17-18
17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

Demonstrate the love of God
Be compassionate. Do good to those around because you genuinely care for them.

Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Closing:
With people you meet on a regular basis, engage with them on an ongoing basis.
