The objectives of the devil keep us from living victorious lives and make us ineffective for the Kingdom
if possible, draw us away from the faith. We as believers need to know that the enemy has no more legal claim over our lives. However be aware of the enemy's tactics. Be vigilant.
The word 'flesh' is any ungodly desire that satiates the natural appetite of a man's body and soul. Don't put yourself in a place where your flesh gets the upper hand. Make no provision for the flesh to feed on you and starve you. Feed your spiritual appetite by strengthening your inner man. Walk in the presence of God.
Overcome means to conquer, to have victory over, to gain mastery over. Everyone who is Born of God, overcomes. Jesus, is our Model who had mastery over the world, the flesh and the devil.
God has also permitted us believers to journey through a world where we will face trials and tribulations (adverse situations). These could be caused by the devil, by the actions of other people or sometimes as a result of our own choices. The devil's attacks are an attempt to steal, kill or destroy what is ours.
However, God empowers us to overcome. Each victory we win puts us in a place of greater spiritual strength.
God has permitted the devil to continue his works in the world for a time, with his temptations and attacks on believers. In the New Testament we have in many places the same Greek word used in two different contexts : one the context of temptation as in inducement to sin, and second as in the context of testing through trials and tribulations.
God tests us not because He does not know what we think or what we will do. He tests us in order to provide us an opportunity to demonstrate in life what we really believe and hold on to. His tests are meant to get us to the next level in our walk with Him. God tests us - but He empowers us by His Word and His Spirit to pass these tests. Every test we pass brings us into a new realm in God.
Tests are meant to promote us to the next level in our spiritual growth and walk with Him. The devil's temptations are an inducement to sin and an attempt to take us away from our faith in the Lord. Trials include troubles, challenges, tribulations, difficulties, adverse circumstances, persecutions, oppositions, hindrances. The devil's attacks are an attempt to steal, kill or destroy what is ours. We how to identify these, face them and move ahead.
