1, In Search For Love

How easy it is to confuse love with passion! Feelings of attraction can change more quickly than the seasons, but love, in its truest form, is greater than feelings.

Everyone is in search for true love.

When we are loved, we feel valued.
When we are loved, we feel accepted.
When we are loved, we feel empowered.
When we are loved, we feel appreciated.
When we are loved, we are freed.
When we are loved, we are healed.

All of us look for that someone who will love us just the way we are. Someone who will love us unconditionally. Someone who will love us every day and every moment of every day.

But how difficult it is to find such love!

The fact that the world's superstars fall in and out of love, divorce, re-marry and divorce yet again - is proof that money and fame cannot buy this kind of love.

2, Human Love is Fragile

Sometimes we think we've found that one true love.

Sooner or later reality strikes. They were in it for other reasons. Or when the going got really tough, those endless promises vaporized. Or may be one fine day – they just changed their mind and went looking elsewhere. Does true love change its mind?

The disappointment that comes when you discover that true love was not really true – can be hard to handle. Its hard to start the search all over again. Is it really worth it?

So many have ended their lives unable to handle the disappointment of unfulfilled love.

Can true love really be found?

3, When Love Breaks Down

Have you loved someone so deeply, where you gave into their lives unconditionally, only to find out that they betrayed you, or walked away from your love? All of a sudden there seemed an invisible wall of something that just didn't allow you to connect with that person.

The Bible tells us that God is love. God is all love.
This great God of love created man and woman in His own image and placed them in a beautiful garden called Eden. He entrusted everything on this earth to the. He had made them His prized creation, since they were the only ones created in His image and carried in them His life. He empowered them to have dominion on the earth.

But then Adam and Eve disobeyed God. They betrayed Him. They walked away from His love and the wonderful relationship they had with Him, believing the lie of the devil.

Their disobedience became that invisible wall between them and God.

Your wrongheaded lives caused the split between you and God. Your sins got between you so that he doesn't hear. (Isaiah 59:1-2)

While God loves us deeply with an unending, true and unconditional love – our sins have become a wall between God and us.

All of us are sinners. From the most religious to the most riotous person – all of us stand guilty before God. We've all sinned and our sins keep us from experiencing His love. The wrong we do keeps us from enjoying the love He has for us.

4, The Love of God

John 3:1-17
The Lord Jesus was speaking with a learned man named Nicodemus. He tried to explain heavenly things in earthly terms. As part of this great message, the Lord Jesus pointed to God's love (vs 16,17)

A certain farmer had an unusual weathervane on his barn. Inscribed on the arrow were these words: "God is love." A passerby turned in at the gate and asked the farmer, "What do you mean by that? Do you think God's love is changeable; that it veers about as that arrow turns in the winds?" "Oh, no," replied the farmer, "I mean that whichever way the wind blows, God is still love."

The Bible states so plainly: God is love. (1 John 4:8)

God's love for us is intense. It is absolute. Regardless of what goes on He still loves us. It is that one true love. The Bible says:

I'm absolutely convinced that nothing -- absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us. (Romans 8:38,39)

Jesus demonstrated the wonderful love of God.

5, No Greater Love

The doctor looked down at the little girl in the hospital bed. He knew that her only hope was to receive blood from someone who had recovered from the same disease. Quickly the doctor found the anxious family, and knelt beside a small boy. "Johnny," he said, "your sister needs your kind of blood to make her well. Would you be willing to give your blood so that she can live?" The doctor watched Johnny's eyes well with fear, but the little boy hesitated only briefly. "Sure, Doctor, I will do it," he replied. After the needed amount of blood was taken from Johnny's small arm, he remained quiet for a few minutes as he had been instructed. Then he stood up, and asked softly: "Well, Doctor, when do I die?" Only then did the doctor realize the extent of the child's sacrifice. Johnny had offered his life to save his sister.

Jesus said: No one has greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13)

6, Loves Greatest Demonstration

Two thousand years ago, God made the greatest demonstration of His love for us. Jesus – God who had become man – allowed Himself to be killed on the cross. He was making a sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. We were the guilty ones who had sinned. Our sins prevented us from having a meaningful relationship with the One who created us. However, God loved us so much He really wanted us to be in relationship with Him. So He decided to get the wall of sin out of the way and make it possible for every person to enter into a wonderful love relationship with Him.

This is how God showed His love for us: God sent His only Son into the world so we might live through Him. This is the kind of love we are talking about--not that we once upon a time loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they've done to our relationship with God. (1 John 4:9-10)

7, Loved Unconditionally

God showed how much He loves us, by taking the initiative to remove the wall of sin that separated us from Him.

And then He goes a step further and makes it possible for every person to become His own son or daughter.

But as many as received Him (Jesus), He gave to them authority to become the children of God, to those
who believe on His name (John 1:12)

God's love for you is unconditional.

Through Jesus Christ, you can enter into a lasting love relationship with the true and living God. When you receive Jesus into your life you become a child of God. God becomes your Father. You are now in a love relationship with the God of this universe – a love relationship which no one else can break!

8, Responding To True Love

What an amazing fact! What amazing love! That the Holy and Just God would Himself remove the wall of sin and then invite us to become His own children!

What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it--we're called children of God! That's who we really are. But that's also why the world doesn't recognize us or take us seriously, because it has no idea who He is or what He's up to. (1 John 3:1)

Jesus loves you. However you need to respond to His love and allow Him to work in your life so that you can experience His love. His love will totally transform you. His love will make all the difference in your life. His love will give you purpose and a reason for living. His love will take you into the depths of God that you have never imagined you could go.

9, Will you respond to His love for you?

Making Your Decision

Love, true love, is a decision. Jesus loved you enough to give His own life, so that the wall of sin could be removed and you could have the privilege of becoming a child of God. When you respond to His love, you too must make a decision. The decision is to receive Jesus and turn your life over to Him. The decision is to believe in Jesus as the only One who takes away your sins and who can make you a child of God.

Whoever believes in Him (Jesus) receives forgiveness of sins through His name (Acts 10:43)

We invite you to say this prayer to respond to the Lord Jesus and His love for you:
Lord Jesus I confess I am a sinner. Thank you for removing the wall of sin because of your love. I now turn my life over to you, to your love. Thank you for making me a child of the living God. In Jesus' name. Amen.

10, Welcome To The Family

If you have made the decision to trust in Jesus and to turn your life over to Him – then you have just started on a wonderful journey of discovering the wonderful love that He has for you.

that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite Him in. And I ask Him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you'll be able to take in with all Christians the extravagant dimensions of Christ's love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:17-19)

Welcome to Christ's family of love! We encourage you to get a copy of the Bible and read it to learn more about Jesus and His love for you. Attend a good church where you can learn more about the One who loved you enough to die for you. And remember He is alive today and He loves you!
